Elizabeth L. Chung

Consumer Representative

Ms. Elizabeth L. Chung is a native of Hong Kong, China and immigrated to the United States in 1970. Ms. Chung completed her graduate study in public health from Pennsylvania State University in 1981. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Asian American Center of Frederick (AACF) established in 2005, with a mission to equip immigrants with essential skills to be independent and successful contributors to the community. AACF is a leading entity in addressing health equity through partnership. Under her leadership, AACF has become a vital and trusted community-based organization in Maryland for immigrants. Ms. Chung's primary focus has been on equity for marginalized populations through education, workforce, and community development.

Governor Larry Hogan appointed Ms. Chung to the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission, and she served as Chairperson, 2020 - 2021. For the past three and current Maryland administration, she was/is sought after for her expertise in health and human services policies. Ms. Chung has received numerous awards and recognition in public health and community services. Her most recent accomplishment is the development of the Community Health Worker Training Program for US Department of Health Human Services, expanding public / community health workforce development to address health disparities for the most vulnerable populations in the community. Ms. Chung resides in Frederick, Maryland with her husband, Dr. Stanley Chung - Orthopedic Surgeon. (retired)
